2026 BSCP Scholarship to Support Student Transitions

The BSCP Scholarship to Support Student Transitions was created to support students navigating key academic transitions on the pathway to biomedical and STEM careers. This scholarship is designed to provide financial support, advising, and community as students move into the next phase of their education.

This scholarship supports students who are:

  1. Transferring from a community college to a four-year college or university
  2. Enrolling in a formal post-baccalaureate program
  3. Transitioning from college or a post-baccalaureate program into graduate school

Scholarship Benefits

  • ● Financial support to be used for educational expenses.
    • ● $25,000 for two-year programs or $12,500 for one-year programs. Students must be enrolled full time.
    • ● Funds are disbursed over two academic years for two-year programs and in two installments for one-year programs.
  • ● Scholarship duration is based on the length of the academic program (one or two years)
  • ● Access to group financial literacy sessions
  • ● A limited number of one-on-one financial advising sessions with a financial professional
  • ● Assignment of a dedicated advisor/support person for the duration of the scholarship
  • ● Continued involvement in BSCP programs and access to BSCP resources

Eligibility Criteria

  • ● Have participated in one or more of the BSCP initiatives listed below since 2020:
    • ● Biomedical Science Careers Student Conference
    • ● New England Science Symposium
    • ● Skills Workshops for College and High School Students (excluding the Skills Workshops Webinar Series)

Personal Statement (Approximately 500–750 words)

A personal statement responding to the following prompts:

  • ● Who are you, and what makes you an ideal candidate for this scholarship?
  • ● What are your major accomplishments, and why do you consider them significant?
  • ● Why did you choose your current area of study?
  • ● How will this scholarship support your educational and career goals?
  • ● What has been your experience as a member of the BSCP community, and why are organizations like BSCP important?

Recommendations

  • ● Names and contact information for two recommenders
  • ●Recommenders will be contacted directly by BSCP and asked to complete a short online recommendation form instead of writing a letter of recommendation.
  • ● Recommenders will have one week from the date they receive the form to submit their recommendation
  • ● Recommenders should be individuals familiar with your academic or professional achievements (e.g., professor, mentor, supervisor, or advisor)

Supporting Documents

  • ● Most recent transcript (unofficial transcripts accepted)
  • ● Current résumé
  • ● Proof of enrollment in a four-year college/university, post-baccalaureate program, or graduate school is required prior to scholarship disbursement if selected.
