Andrea Jackie Fleurant
M.D. Candidate, 2031
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
Scholarship sponsored by Royalty Pharma
“Without BSCP, I would have continued to mistake the absence of people who looked like me as evidence that I did not belong. For the first time, I was surrounded by people who had achieved things I once believed weren’t meant for me. I could see that there was a place for someone like me in medicine, not just as someone who could participate, but as someone who could excel and lead.”
Born and raised in Massachusetts as a proud Haitian American, Andrea is a first-generation college graduate of Lasell University where she received her bachelor’s degree with honors in Applied Mathematics.
She completed a post-bacc research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Dermatology where she studied models of skin inflammation. This research culminated in a first-author publication in a medical journal.
Andrea has also held several positions at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she’s gained valuable clinical experience, contributed to patient care, and worked on improving healthcare access globally.
Andrea is currently a medical student at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
